Pelvic physiotherapy assessment is recommended to all pregnant individuals. Determining where you may have either tension or weakness may help to optimize your pregnancy and promote an easier delivery through prenatal birth prep strategies your therapist can teach you.
Postpartum rehabilitation is recommended for all individuals who have delivered a baby. Scar tissue (perineal or c-section) should be considered, as well as muscle length and strength (many may experience pain, loss of control of urine or feces, pain with sexual intercourse, loss of sensation, and pressure or heaviness as a result of pelvic organ prolapse). Diastasis rectus abdominis is also routinely assessed and treated.
