What is Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy?
You may be asking yourself why you have been referred to a pelvic floor physiotherapist. Rest assured, you have found the right centre to help you along your journey.
Pelvic floor physiotherapy (also known as pelvic physiotherapy) involves the assessment and treatment of structures in this area of the body. The pelvic floor includes muscles, associated connective tissue and fascia, ligamentous structures and nerves. These structures play an important role in bladder, bowel and sexual function. If these tissues are not functioning properly, one can experience incontinence, pain, and sexual dysfunction, among other issues. Our experienced physiotherapists have extensive post-graduate training in how to comprehensively evaluate and treat your individual concerns. We will conduct both subjective and objective evaluations to determine all of the biological, psychological and social factors that may be of issue. Based on these evaluations, we will develop a personalized treatment plan to meet your individual goals and needs.
