Men's Pelvic Health

Men’s Pelvic Health and Incontinence Care

Pelvic health is as important to a man’s well-being as it is a woman’s. Advanced Pelvic provides care for pre- and post-prostatectomy patients who may be experiencing urine leakage and erectile dysfunction (often as a result of surgery). Our professional physiotherapists can assess and treat the muscles appropriately and can also offer non-surgical solutions to manage urinary and/or fecal incontinence. You can learn more about men’s urinary incontinence from the Canadian Continence Foundation’s FAQs page.

Pre- and post-prostatectomy

Men commonly experience urine leakage and erectile dysfunction as a result of this surgery. Pelvic physiotherapists can assess and treat the muscles appropriately, given your pre- or post-surgical state.

Chronic Non-Bacterial Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS)

Symptoms can include persistent pain, urgency/frequency with urination, pain during/following ejaculation, rectal pain, fullness sensation in the prostate all in the absence of identifiable cause.

Men’s Incontinence Care with Contino®

Urinary incontinence can leave you avoiding activities or with feelings of isolation and depression. Despite the serious impacts that urinary incontinence has on an individual’s life, many men do not explore the variety of options available to them to lessen this impact. Advanced Pelvic can explore with you the many options that are available to help you regain the freedom you had before experiencing urinary incontinence.

Control Bladder Incontinence in Men with Contino®

Bladder incontinence is a common side-effect of prostate treatments related to prostate cancer, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia - BPH (enlarged prostate) and Prostatitis (prostate inflammation), and can have a significant impact on your quality of life. Contino® is an easy-to-use urethral insert that can control the flow of urine. It can be removed and re-inserted as many times a day as needed. Users report that it is painless to insert and that it allows them to return to what life was like before they experienced urinary incontinence. Users find that it reduces or eliminates the need for pads, surgical intervention, and collection devices.  It is also not associated with skin irritation. As a Contino® Authorized Trainer, Advanced Pelvic can complete an independent assessment and, if appropriate, provide a personalised fitting and support of Contino®.
